What is Guardian Eye?

Is Guardian Eye free?
Yes! Guardian Eye has a free version with basic features. Premium versions are available for users who need more cameras and advanced features.
What operating systems are supported?
Guardian Eye supports Windows 10/11 and major Linux distributions including Ubuntu, Fedora, and Debian.
Cameras
What cameras are supported?
Guardian Eye supports USB webcams, IP cameras via RTSP protocol, and ONVIF-compatible cameras. Most major brands are supported.
Can I use multiple cameras?
Yes! The free version supports 1 camera, Home supports up to 4 cameras, and Pro supports unlimited cameras.
How do I add an IP camera?
Go to Settings > Add Camera > IP Camera. Enter the RTSP URL or use auto-discovery for ONVIF cameras.
Recording
Where are recordings stored?
All recordings are stored locally on your computer. You choose the folder and Guardian Eye handles the rest.
What recording formats are supported?
Guardian Eye supports MP4, MKV, and AVI formats. MP4 is recommended for compatibility.
How much disk space do I need?
It depends on resolution and quality. Roughly 1GB per hour for 1080p at medium quality. Guardian Eye can automatically delete old recordings.
Privacy
Is my data uploaded to the cloud?
No! All your data stays on YOUR computer. Guardian Eye does not upload anything to the cloud.
Do I need an account?
No account is required. Guardian Eye works completely offline after initial download.
How does Guardian Eye protect my data?
Guardian Eye processes all video locally on your device. No data is sent to external servers, ensuring complete privacy and security of your recordings.
Licensing
Can I upgrade my license later?
Yes! You can upgrade anytime by paying the difference between your current plan and the new one.
Can I use Guardian Eye for commercial purposes?
Free and Home licenses are for personal use. Pro license includes commercial use rights.
How many devices can I install it on?
Home license allows up to 4 devices you own. Pro license allows unlimited devices.
